 | Background and Objectives | Promote further understanding of modern Europe for global comprehension of international system European countries in these days have been experiencing drastic changes in various fields such as politics, economy, law, and society. Nanzan University Center for the European Studies, established in 1991 aiming at promoting mutual understanding between European countries and Japan, takes its primary mission as to deepen the study of dynamics of European countries in the 21st century from many different aspects. The activity of the center could be roughly divided in two directions; the collection of information and the communication of the knowledge. Our center collects books and documents of European studies, most of which dealing with social science, and the collection is available to the public at our center's library. The center holds meetings, seminars and symposia inviting researchers from inside/outside of Japan. The results of the activities are disclosed through our annual bulletin and through our website in the hope of spreading better understanding of current Europe to the general public.
