User registration |
If you wish to use the library, please prepare the necessary documentation and apply at the reception counter on the first floor N building. Further, if you want to take materials out of the library on loan, a Nanzan University Library User Card will be issued. Please make this known when registering. |

*User cards are valid for the duration of the academic year until the end of March. Those wishing to make use of the facilities in subsequent years should submit the required documentation again. Please keep us informed of any change in your contact details via the reception counter.
Use of materials |
Please put away your coat and any other belongings in lockers provided at the library. Valuables, however, should be kept with you at all times. Writing implements may also be taken in with you. Books in the library are shelved on compact stacks. If there is already someone else blousing the library, please wait until the person will be out. Materials in the reading room (unbound periodicals, newspapers, etc.) may be taken from shelves and read freely. Please return materials to their place on the shelves after use. |
To Borrow |
Please look for the call number for materials that you wish to borrow by using the NeoCilius Knowledge OPAC or the card catalogues. If you want to borrow bound periodicals and newspapers, please write down the call number on a Call Slip, and submit it to the reception counter. The Center personnel will take the materials you wish to have out from the library. If you want to take materials out of the library on loan, a Student I.D. card or Nanzan University Library user card will be issued. |
Library Loans |
| *In addition, final-year undergraduate students may take out up to 10 graduation theses for a period of four weeks. There is also an extended loan service that allows other undergraduate students to take out up to 10 items for the duration of the spring and summer vacation periods. |
Loan returns |
Items may be return to the center's reception counter at the first floor of the N building. Please return items before expiry of the lone period. |
Borrowing Extensions |
Please bring the materials Borrowed and your user card to the Center's Library Counter at 1st floore N building .If there are no reservation for the materials, borrowing extension are possible. |
Overdue loans |
Loaned books that are overdue are subject to a fine of 100 yen per item per day, excluding library holidays. |
Copying |
Copying can be done on the copy machines, which accept only prepaid cards in the second floor of the N building. Please fill in the “Photocopying Application from” and observe copyright regulation when copying materials. |
Reservations and Requeats |
Please contact the Center's Library counter at the 1st floor of the N building to make a reservation or request. |
Locating materials |

The NeoCILIUS Knowledge OPAC is an online catalogue of library holdings. Search facilities are available for monographs acquired since April 1985 as well as all periodicals and reference works at the Center for Asia-pasific Studies library. (2) Card catalogues All monographs acquired prior to April 1985 that are currently held at the Center for Asia-pacific Studies Library can be searched via the card catalogues. There are separate title, author, and subject catalogues. |
